State seeks public input on potential offshore wind

Discussions have been ongoing in Ocean City regarding bringing offshore wind to the region and now the First State is debating on whether they should follow suit.

An offshore wind working group held a public meeting Thursday night in Bethany asking for public input and to do some homework on three main questions.

What factors will the state need to consider when a company proposes offshore wind development, considering whether the state should solicit or purchase energy from an offshore wind project, and what Delaware can do to become the Mid-Atlantic location for part of the supply chain for offshore wind.

"As we've been getting all along the way, we've been posting comments on our webpage and those comments are being presented to the offshore wind working group and will be considered before the working group finalizes its recommendations," said Thomas Noyes, principal planner for utility policy.

We're told the state still has a lot of homework to do on the matter and are looking for public input.  You can make your voice heard in the discussions on the state of Delaware's website, De.gov/offshorewind.
