The Cape Henelopen boys soccer team took the field at Smyrna to take on some Salesianum and what turned out to be an overtime battle.Both teams had several opportunities to put the ball away throughout the entire game, but nobody could find a way to just put on the back of the net. However, that was a lot in part to the fact that there was solid defense being played on both sides of the ball. Despite the countless opportunities, the game would end in a 0-0 tie and would then open up into a golden-goal overtime period. Within the first ten minute half, Salesianum's Gavin Howard scored the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in the first overtime half.Sallies got the 1-0 victory over the Vikings and are advancing to the state championship game on Saturday!

The Indian River Indians took the field at Appoquinnimink High School as they took on Archmere academy in the boys soccer state semi-final on Wednesday night.The Indians got off to a hot start, especially Mike Mochiam, who is scored in the past three games and helped lead Indian River to win tonight over Archmere Academy. Just 48 seconds into the game, but Mochiam managed to put the first school of the game away to get the Indians a 1-0 lead. Both teams continue to have opportunities to put the ball away throughout the first half, but it would be the Indians who had the lone goal in the first forty minutes of play.It remained a close game throughout the second half of play as well, but Indian River managed to secure their win with a goal from Mochiam yet again with just over 15 minutes left to play. The Indians got the win 2-0 over the Auks and will play in the Delaware boys soccer state championship game on Saturday.

The Crisfield Crabbers have made their way through the state tournament with ease, but next up was a team from across the bridge as they took on Allegany in a big state semi-final match up on Saturday evening.For the first time in program history, the Campers made an appearance in the state tournament, but for the Crabbers - this was their 6th state tournament appearance. However, it had been since 1977 that Crisfield played in a Maryland state tournament championship game, and they looked to changed that on Saturday. The first half was an even battle between both teams as each had their own opportunities to score goals, but the first half would end of scoreless 0-0.The second half is where things began to pick up and Crisfield started things off just three minutes into the half. In the 43rd minute, Johnny Taylor split two defenders and found the near post scoring his 18th goal of the season to help the Crabbers take a 1 - 0 lead. Crisfield continued to hold onto that lead for the next 30 minutes of the game and that was a lot in part to goalkeeper Charlie Elliot who had a phenomenal game in the net.With 5:36 left in the game, the Crabbers took a 2-0 lead over the Campers afterOzzy Zetina broke through three defenders scored in his 16th goal of the season and gave Crisfield a little bit of cushion to sit on for the remainder of the game. The most dangerous lead and soccer is 2-0 and that's because it's easier for other teams to get back in the game, but Crisfield was not going to let that happen. However with less than two minutes left in the game, Giuseppe Dearcangelis put away the Campers only goal of the game to make it 2-1 and put his team back within state championship sight.Crisfield played with everything they had and they left it on the field and the results showed exactly that as they got the win 2-1 and are headed to the state championship game next week against North Carroll.
