The No. 7 Woodbridge football team made the trip up north to face No. 2 Delaware Military Academy and pulled off the huge upset 12-7. The Blue Raiders will now face top seeded St. Georges on Saturday.
The Crisfield boys soccer teams incredible 2015 season won't be remembered for the final score of their championship game on Saturday. It will be remembered with how the group of young men captivated their entire town, and took the program somewhere it hadn't been in nearly 40 years, shown by the huge crowd of fans that made the trip over to Baltimore to support their team.
The Indian River boys soccer team returned to glory Saturday night, defeating defending champion Caravel 1-0 to win the DIAA Division II state championship.
The Cape Henlopen Vikings field hockey team capped off an undefeated season with the 2015 DIAA state championship, defeating Delmar 3-1.
Throughout the 2015 football season, the Lake Forest Spartans have continued to turn heads around in the Henlopen for the way that they have been able to win games despite slow first half play. However, the Spartans kept plugging away and managed to get wins any way they possibly could and it worked.The boys in blue took the field at Tower Hill to take on Wilmington Friends - both teams who look to use the run game as their main source of offense. In the first quarter, it looked like it was going to be all about the Quakers after they took a 14-0 lead, but the Spartans defense stepped up in the second half. Lake Forest would eventually get on the board with just over a minute left in the first half after a mere white ran the ball in to make it a 14-7 game heading into halftime.Following a half, the third-quarter got off to a very slow start for both teams, but Friends would get on the board first to make it a 21-7 game. However, leave it to the Spartans to respond with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to make it eight 21-14 game and close the gap to make it just a one score game. The Quakers defense came up with some major fourth quarter stops and their offense took care of the rest as they got the win over Lake Forest, 34-14.The Spartans did not look like themselves out on the field on Saturday afternoon, but they definitely put up a great fight on the defensive side of the ball making several goal line stops against the Quakers. Lake Forest closes out regular season play with an 8-2 record and overall, 8-3.
The Sussex Tech Ravens are coming off of an 8-2 regular season record as they enter the state title race. In the first round of playoffs, the Ravens are on the road taking on the Middletown Cavaliers who finished regular season play with the same 8-2 record.
The Smyrna Eagles have continued to turn around the league throughout the entire 2015 season.Most of their success has come from sophomore running back, Will Knight, who has continued to be a force within this Eagles offense. The one who has helped orchestrate this offense is quarterback, Nolan Henderson, who has done big things for this team all season long as well. Friday night's playoff game against Mount Pleasant was no different for the dynamic duo - who helped continue lead this team to another victory.Anderson had himself quite the night throwing five touchdown passes including three of those to Donté Ritchie and Knight scored a 75 yard touchdown on the ground. This Smyrna football team has so many weapons on the field - it is incredible to watch them continue to make their playoff run.Mount Pleasant got back within one score to the Eagles, but they were no match for this Smyrna powerhouse who has a state championship on their mind.Smyrna got the win over Mount Pleasant, 56-32 and will advance to the next round of playoffs next Saturday.
The Cambridge South Dorchester Vikings football season came to an end Friday night when they fell 26-22 to the Havre de Grace Warriors in the 1A East Regional Final.
The UMES volleyball team saw their season come to an end Friday morning with a tough 3-2 loss to Florida A&M in the opening round of the MEAC Tournament. The Hawks finish out the season with a 22-7 record.
The North Caroline football team topped Elkton 36-15 on Friday night in the 2A East Regional Final. The win is the second in the history of the Bulldogs program and propels them into the state semifinals.
The Delmar Wildcats moved swiftly in their state semifinal against Wilmington Christian, jumping out to a 3-0 lead at the half, before defeating the Warriors 4-1 to advance to the state championship game.

The Cape Henelopen boys soccer team took the field at Smyrna to take on some Salesianum and what turned out to be an overtime battle.Both teams had several opportunities to put the ball away throughout the entire game, but nobody could find a way to just put on the back of the net. However, that was a lot in part to the fact that there was solid defense being played on both sides of the ball. Despite the countless opportunities, the game would end in a 0-0 tie and would then open up into a golden-goal overtime period. Within the first ten minute half, Salesianum's Gavin Howard scored the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in the first overtime half.Sallies got the 1-0 victory over the Vikings and are advancing to the state championship game on Saturday!
The Indian River Indians took the field at Appoquinnimink High School as they took on Archmere academy in the boys soccer state semi-final on Wednesday night.The Indians got off to a hot start, especially Mike Mochiam, who is scored in the past three games and helped lead Indian River to win tonight over Archmere Academy. Just 48 seconds into the game, but Mochiam managed to put the first school of the game away to get the Indians a 1-0 lead. Both teams continue to have opportunities to put the ball away throughout the first half, but it would be the Indians who had the lone goal in the first forty minutes of play.It remained a close game throughout the second half of play as well, but Indian River managed to secure their win with a goal from Mochiam yet again with just over 15 minutes left to play. The Indians got the win 2-0 over the Auks and will play in the Delaware boys soccer state championship game on Saturday.
