Delmarva at War

SALISBURY, Md. – The 150th anniversary of the civil war is being commemorated locally.  At Salisbury University, you can check out an array of genuine artifacts.  Letters, from the front lines to people on Delmarva who were spies for the confederacy.

During the civil war, the peninsula was a mixed bag of northern and southern sympathizers, and it's all on display at the Nabb Cultural Gallery.

“What we tried to do is to take only original documents, only letters ledgers photographs, images, newspaper articles from the time and create an idea of what was happening here on the shore during the civil war period,” Ray Thompson, SU Research Center Director.

All the exhibits are donated to SU from families with long standing ties to the history of Delmarva, local people whose ancestors have passed down original records.
