SU women’s basketball remains undefeated in CAC

Salisbury University hosted York University Saturday after and both teams were hungry for the win.

The Seagulls have only lost one game this entire season on December 29, and York put these ladies through the trenches.

After one half, the Salisbury trailed York by two points, 45-43, and it was a back and forth game all the way till the buzzer. The Gulls could not find an answer for Yorks’ offense having two girls in double digit points within the first half alone – Shea Wassel and Sam Hruz – for a combined 22 points. However, Salisbury’s dynamic duo in Anna Hackett and Sarah Seipp notched 13 points a piece adding up to a combined 26 points.

The second half started out just about the same as the first half – both teams finishing their opportunities and a very offensive heavy game. The Spartans were shooting at 51% up till about six minutes left in the game when their percentage dropped off to 40.6%, but the Seagulls continued to pull ahead shooting 65.5% in the second half. Salisbury’s lady Gulls shot for an impressive 55.6% on the game eventually leading to a 91-81 win over York.

One of the biggest stories of the day is senior guard, Anna Hackett, jumped two spots to become number three on the Salisbury all-time scoring record with her 27 points on Saturday afternoon.
