#kindSBY kicking off Adopt-a-School
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – If you’ve been looking for a way to give back to educators after this difficult year and a half, now’s your chance. #kindSBY, the City of Salisbury’s kindness commission, is kicking off their Adopt-a-School campaign. “We want to help our school staff to feel good about their jobs day to day. This is the best way we thought we could do it, by getting the community involved. It will be morale boosting for everyone who participates, who delivers, and who even reads it on social media,” said Kindness Commissioner Grace Foxwell Murdock.
When people sign up, they’ll receive a list of projects to choose from. They will pick four morale-boosting events and activities to bring to any of Wicomico County’s 27 public schools. Kindness Commissioners tell 47ABC that anyone can get involved, and the impact will be far reaching. “We’re not just talking about teachers. We’re talking about the entire school staff because everybody during this time needs a high morale to go in every day and do their very best job,” said Foxwell Murdock.
Kindness Commissioner Pastor Martin Hutchison says he’s hoping to see support from local businesses as well. “We need businesses to step up and just love on our educators in this year, and for the next year or so,” said Pastor Hutchison. “It’s been a tough time to be in education: the uncertainty of the pandemic, the inability to be in person with your students.”
