Summer temperatures increase heat-related illness risk

With temperatures rising around the country, many people are out having fun in the sun. However, it’s important to remember to protect yourself from heat related illnesses while having fun.
The most common include heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat rash. Theses illnesses are attributed to different degrees of the body’s loss of water, heavy sweating, and heat exposure.
Staying hydrated and limiting time in extreme heat can help decrease the chances of getting sick. Heat stroke is the most serious form of heat-related illnesses and can cause death. If you or you see someone with signs of confusion, loss of consciousness, or seizures call 911 immediately.
