Hebron Carnival vandalized Rhodesdale teen charged

UPDATE: Teen charged following vandalism at Hebron Carnival

When Hebron Carnival Chairman Ken Jackson arrived early Monday morning for his daily inspection of the grounds, he knew right away something was wrong.

“I noticed the lights were on at the bingo stand,” said Carnival Chairman Jackson, “I knew they weren’t on yesterday.”

Jackson called local authorities, then found several damaged doors and snack and food stands destroyed.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says someone forced their way in by attaching a cable to the doors of the stands to a stolen pickup truck and pulling the doors open.

Authorities say the damages to the doors alone estimates in the several thousands of dollars.

Hebron residents tells 47 ABC they are outraged.

“Its a small town this fire department does a lot for this community,” says Craig Ahern of Hebron, “You’re taking away from kids and charities and everything like that.”

Jackson says he couldn’t believe the amount of vandalism he found, especially since the carnival helps out those who serve the community.

“All the proceeds go to benefit the fire department fire equipment, paramedic salaries everything that has to do with the fire department,” Jackson says, “We have a lot of equipment that we wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for the carnival.”

The stolen items included a 50 inch LED flat screen television which was being auctioned off at the carnival this Sunday and two oscillating fans all recovered. It was the stolen vehicle that led them to a 16-year-old who admitted to the crime.

That teen is now facing burglary and theft charges.
