Community groups deal with unrest in Pocomoke

The community group, Citizens For a Better Pocomoke, gathered again Thursday night to discuss their plans going forward.
Last week, the group held a press conference to publicize their petition to get Mayor Bruce Morrison to resign. However, this week the group held a meeting closed to media at the House of Love Christian Center, to prepare for next weeks town hall meeting at City Hall.
“We just want to bring our committee up to par for where we are. Satisfy every body’s notions that we’re all still on the same page,” said Rev. James Jones, a leader in the group.
As for the groups petition against Mayor Morrison, 47 ABC pointed out last week that there may be a discrepancy with the group’s claim that Morrison played a part in an illegal election.
Jones said that the petition would be discussed at the meeting and they would decide if changes should be made.
Also in Pocomoke, there was a rally for the mayor and City Council.More than 100 citizens signed their names saying they support their community leaders.
“We’re hearing one side of the story,” said former county commissioner Robert Cowger Jr., who orchestrated the event. Cowger continued that if the policies, procedures and investigations are all run the correct way then the other side of the story will be told and the truth will come out.
