Town of Berlin planning to buy Tyson property

The town of berlin is one step closer to buy a plot of land they hope to develop.

On Monday, the town council approved a feasibility study for the Tyson Property, which is located right along Route 50 and Route 113. This move comes after an environmental study of the property came back saying there are no significant barriers to development. Berlin Mayor Gee Williams tells 47 ABC, the land would cost around 2.5 million dollars.

Williams says there won’t be just one use for property. After multiple public input meetings, officials say they came up with several uses including a skate park, hiking trials, an amphitheater, and a Berlin police substation.

Williams told 47 ABC, “We’re not asking for just one plan, we’re saying with all these different possible uses, give us some different options and some different scenarios. That’s what we can take to the public and say, ‘here’s what we’re thinking, here’s what looks practical to us. Give us your input.'”

We’re told the results of the feasibility study are expected in October.
