Del. receives 8,000 doses of new Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Some Private Practices Still Need Vaccine

WILMINGTON, Del. – The state of Delaware has received 8,000 doses of the newly approved Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

We’re told the one-dose vaccine is expected to be administered beginning this weekend. State health officials are sending out invitations to its waiting list for vaccination events on Saturday and Sunday, which will be held by appointment only.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is the third federally approved vaccine, but it’s the first to include only one dose. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are two-dose vaccinations.

Health officials say all three vaccines are effective, and that individuals should take the first vaccine that becomes available to them.
