Businesses preparing for Valentine’s Day, people can expect some changes
DELMARVA- Love is in the air and with Valentines Day being tomorrow Delmarva businesses are preparing for the big day, but with some changes due to the pandemic.
“We are definitely seeing more people shopping for flowers and I think that’s because people can not meet in person and I think at Valentines Day this year we are seeing not a lot of people are going to go out,” Shailinn Messer, a Kitty’s Flowers Sales Department Employee, said.
Kitty’s Flowers, in Salisbury, said they are shocked at the amount of people wanting flowers now more than ever.
To accommodate those orders, they needed to alter some things.
“We really had to sparse down our design options this year to keep it more simple, there have been flower shortages due to COVID,” Messer, said.
On top of that, we are told they had to change delivery procedures.
“We are doing things like calling at the time of delivery and leaving flowers at the door, and we have minimized the amount of people we are allowing in our showroom,” Messer, said.
Meanwhile at local restaurants and a winery, they are having to make adjustments to their seating arrangements.
“We are trying to put in extra tables spaced out properly so the health departments happy and the guests are comfortable and our employees are safe,” Paul Suplee, the owner of Boxcar40 and Boxcar on Main, said.
“They have to be at tables, there has to be reservations, so its significantly cut back the amount of people we can see,” Adrian Mobilia, owner of Salted Vines Vineyard, said.
Both of these spots add that their reservations are sold out, and it’s nice to still see the community supporting their businesses during these uncertain times.
“The supports been phenomenal people are super happy, we are happy,” Suplee said.
“Most of the time we found that customers truly understand, they appreciate that not only us but all businesses are taking to ensure everyone’s safety,” Mobilia said.
We are told Salted Vines Vineyard said people are still welcome to get items to go, and they have a few specials for the weekend that include $8 dollar wine slushies and $3 off a 3 pack of wine.
Kitty’s Flowers said they are also doing curbside pick-up.
