Adopt-A-Block heads out into community spreading Christmas cheer

Every other Saturday, Adopt-A-Block, a community outreach program run by Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, heads out to the community to give goods to families in need.  Closer to Christmas, they’re delivering a little something extra.

The church held a toy drive spanning the past few weeks, gathering toys for children of registered families under the age of 12.  They then prepare food, clothing, and those presents and sort them to be dispersed.  Three teams of about twenty volunteers each then hit the streets to give out the goods.

Why do they do it? Love.  First and foremost they want to spread love into the hearts of those who may need a little more support around the holidays.  Adopt-A-Block is also a vision.  They hope they can be a model organization for others in the community to mirror and spread the love to more and more communities.

The program continues to grow and almost 200 households are registered with close to 400 children.  And Adopt-A-Block is not an exclusive organization, many of the volunteers are church members, but all are welcome to give thier time, efforts, and talents, to help spread love throughout the communities.
