“We hope this will open a new avenue:” Worcester partnership hoping to bring people together with art during COVID-19
WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.- The Worcester County Arts Council and the Worcester County Library are partnering up to bring new creative experiences to the area.
The Worcester County Arts Council told us that right now they are looking for artists to participate in a new initiative, called the Artist-In-Residence program.
Through the program, local artists can develop online art content and cultural experiences virtually, using mediums of creative writing, poetry, musicals, and more.
Organizers hope this new program will make art more accessible to the community, especially during the pandemic.
“Of course we know that a lot of communities in our area that are undeserved and a lot of people are unemployed or are unable to participate in art classes or some other art experiences, so we hope this will open a new avenue,” Anna Mullis, Executive Director of Worcester County Arts Council, said.
The program will run from January to March.
They will be accepting art proposals until January 15.
Each artist in the program, is expected to plan and present at least two interactive sessions, workshops, public programs, or other forms of community engagement.
