CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Volunteers with the Rescue Fire Company (RFC) responded to a serious crash that trapped one individual under a semi-truck in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Just after midnight on Jun. 17, crews were dispatched to the intersection of Route 50 and Maryland Avenue in Cambridge for an entrapment and vehicle fire. First arriving units found a passenger vehicle lodged underneath the rear of a tractor-trailer with heavy entrapment, but no fire. Due to the severity of the incident, crews requested a heavy wrecker to the scene.

Crews say one patient was flown to a regional trauma center for treatment.

RFC thanked Jess Jr. & Sons Body Shop for their rapid response and with one of their rotators, which played a critical role in the extrication process.
