Wicomico County reaches CBA with police

Wicomico County and the fraternal order of police have a preliminary collective bargaining agreement and now county officials say they’re just waiting two weeks until the next county council meeting for final approval.
County exec. Bob Culver tells 47 ABC after a month of negotiations the county and the F.O.P. came to a consensus on New Year’s Eve.
The agreement essentially outlines how the county will compensate it’s law enforcement officers.
Last spring the previous agreement was reached after almost a year of negotiations.
Culver said this go around, things went much smoother.
“We worked on it, we came it with all parties ready to work now. There was nobody that was not willing to give and take and I must commend the FOP for that they came in and stated what they wanted, but from that point on we got down to the hard tacks of it,” Culver said.
Full details of the agreement will be made public after the county council’s meeting on January 19, but Culver says two of the major items in the agreement are disability and death benefits.
