Job and Resource Expo in Milford

MILFORD, Del.– The Delaware Department of Labor hosted a job and resource expo at the Delaware Food Bank campus in Milford Delaware.

Community Outreach Coordinator for Sussex County’s Department of Labor Olivia Bragg says the goal of the event was to broaden career access.

“We just wanted to bring more opportunities, resources, and information to people in Sussex and Kent county,” Bragg said.

Attendees of the expo had opportunities to network, get food from the food pantry and take their career to the next level.

Economic Mobility Director of the Delaware Food Bank Megan Zavala says she hopes families can walk away from the event feeling more stable and supported.

“So employment opportunities for families that increase their earned income or finding employment if they weren’t previously employed,” Zavala said. “This event helps families increase their earned income and have more flexibility in their budgets.”

Most of all, event organizers hope connecting individuals with more resources allows them to grow not only financially but also internally.

“I hope people take away confidence and find programs that they maybe didn’t know existed,” Bragg said. “Now they can feel a lot better and have a goal to work towards.”

Organizers say connecting people with jobs and other resources is the first step toward a stronger future.
