Illian’s two goals lifts Indian River to third boys soccer title

DOVER, Del. – Indian River boys soccer captured its third DIAA Division-II championship in program history, downing Newark Charter 2-1 in Dover Saturday evening.

The game remained scoreless for three quarters before Jordan Illian finally broke through. The Indians sophomore score twice in the final period, locking up the first title for Indian River since 2015.

Head coach Steve Kilby discussed his program’s ability to continue to produce talent year after year, saying after the game, “we have what I like to call a ‘legacy program.’ We don’t draw from each geographical area, so we develop the players the best we can… We’re really fortunate to have these guys inside the community that we have.”
