Cape Henlopen football bounces back with tough road win over Golden Knights
GEORGETOWN, Del. – Cape Henlopen football took down Sussex Central 16-7 Friday night in Georgetown.
The game began with a long drive from Sussex Central that ate up the entirety of the first quarter, leaking into the start of the second. Despite the long march down the field, the Golden Knights came up empty-handed with Cape finding a fourth down stop on the five-yard line.
The Vikings responded with a long drive of their own, using up the majority of the remaining time in the first half, culminating in a Jameson Tingle touchdown run that broke the ice and gave Cape a lead that they would never relinquish.
Sussex Central dropped to 5-2 on the season with the loss. Their next opponent presents another test in the form of the 5-2 Caesar Rodney Riders.
For Cape Henlopen, their sixth win of the year came as a much-needed bounce back. The Vikings had entered the loss column for the first time all year in the week prior with a tough 48-0 loss at the hands of the Smyrna Eagles. Cape will have a chance to make it two in a row next week against the Dover Senators, who will enter the game fresh off an upset win over St. Georges.
