Clippers shut out Parkside for first win in rivalry in 18 years

18 years.
Eighteen years of close losses. Eighteen years of blowouts. Eighteen years of heartache. Eighteen years of being on the wrong side of things. It all came crashing down on Monday night at Wicomico County Stadium as the Bennett girls soccer team defeated city rival Parkside for the first time since 1999.
"It means so much because we hadn't done it for so long, I mean we've been so close on so many occasions." said Bennett head coach Ed O'Leary. "We know the hurt and pain that can come with losing, So tonight we just said all we can do is our very best, and tonight again these kids gave their best."
Bennett took the lead with 17 minutes left in the first half, off a strike by Annabel Hofman. The Clippers would hold that lead into the half, and seal the deal with 15 minutes left in the second, with a powerful shot from the left box by Olivia Owens. The Clippers we're able to hold the Rams off the scoreboard thanks to some fantastic saves by freshman keeper Caroline Scott.
"I just said–you know what girls, if you go and win this game, you will never forget it. It means everything to us, its Bennett-Parkside, its the rivalry, it just means everything."
