Two injured in Hebron house fire

The cause of a house fire in Hebron, that injured two of the home’s residents, remains under investigation.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the occupant found the fire, just before 2:00 AM on Sunday, in the living room of their Ocean Gateway home. Twenty five firefighters from Hebron, Mardela, Delmar, and Salisbury worked to extinguish the one alarm blaze. They reportedly had the flames under control in about an hour and twenty minutes.
Officials say the two residents received minor burns, and smoke inhalation, and were both rushed to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where they were treated, and released.
Investigators say the fire started in the living room of the one and a half story home, but the cause remains under investigation. Damages are estimated to total $100,000.
A Westside Intermediate student apparently lived at the home, but wasn’t there when the flames broke out. The school is now collecting donations for the family, in the building’s office.
