Reported assault leads to numerous charges for Salisbury man

SALISBURY, Md. – Police say a Salisbury man is behind bars in connection to an incident that happened last week.

According to police, during the evening hours of Wednesday, deputies responded to the area of Dennis Street and Arthur Court for a report of a fight in progress. Once on scene, deputies learned of an assault that had occurred to multiple victims, most of which were juveniles. It was learned that some victims had sustained visible injuries, and that the adult was the primary aggressor during the fight.

The suspect allegedly fled prior to police arrival on scene. It was reported that the suspect had pulled an alleged firearm from his vehicle and pointed it directly at a juvenile during the incident.

Through the course of the investigation, police were able to identify the suspect as 43-year-old Ivory Sheppard Jr. An arrest warrant was obtained for his arrest, and he was taken into custody on Friday. A search and seizure warrant was executed on Sheppard’s residence, leading to the seizure of regulated firearms and copious amounts of ammunition from the residence. It was also learned that Sheppard is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to previous convictions.

On-view charges were completed for Sheppard, and the arrest warrant was served. The charges for the arrest warrant include firearm possession with felony conviction, firearm use/felony – violent crime, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, first degree assault, five counts of second degree assault, reckless endangerment, handgun on person, and handgun in vehicle. The on-view charges include illegal possession of a regulated firearm, two counts of firearm possession with felony conviction, illegal possession of ammunition, and two counts of rifle/shotgun possession with felony conviction.

Sheppard was held without bond.
