Seaford man arrested on felony drug charges after fleeing traffic stop
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Seaford man after they say he fled a traffic stop with more than 800 bags of heroin and fentanyl in his possession.
Troopers arrested 35-year-old Jarrell Rodriguez on charges of possession with intent to distribute a heroin & fentanyl mixture, unlawful distribution of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), unlawfully bringing CDS into the State, eluding and fleeing, and related traffic charges. Additional charges are currently pending in Delaware.
On Oct. 22, at 7:00 p.m., patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop on a black Jeep Compass near Stage Road and southbound U.S. Route 13. During the initial contact, Rodriguez, the driver and sole occupant, provided deputies with his identification. Deputies subsequently requested assistance from a WCSO canine team. When the canine team arrived, deputies asked Rodriguez to exit his vehicle, but he instead fled the scene in his Jeep.
Deputies pursued Rodriguez, deploying stop sticks on two separate occasions. Following the second deployment, Rodriguez pulled to the right side of the roadway and was taken into custody without further incident.
