Delmar man charged with home invasion, aggressive assault against elderly man
DELMAR, Md. – A Delmar man has been charged in connection with an aggressive assault and home invasion that occurred early Thursday morning.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has charged 35-year-old Brandon Grasso with first and second degree assault, home invasion, and fourth degree burglary. Deputies say the warrant for his arrest has not been served at this time due to ongoing medical treatment.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Oct. 22 at approximately 1:00 a.m., when deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Maple Street in Delmar, Maryland, for a welfare check. Upon arrival, the first responding deputy observed a male suspect actively assaulting a white male victim in his 70s. The deputy immediately intervened to stop the assault and restrain the suspect. Moments later, a second deputy arrived on scene and assisted in taking the suspect into custody, who was later identified as Grasso.
Other responding deputies immediately began rendering aid to the victim, who sustained extensive and traumatic facial injuries, and multiple fractured ribs. Deputies say the injuries appeared consistent with blunt force trauma and human bites. The Delmar Volunteer Fire Department responded to provide medical assistance.
An investigation into this incident remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective J. Lowe with the Criminal Investigation Division at 410-548-4891.
