Md. man charged with December robbery in Del.

Authorities have charged a Maryland man in connection to the armed robbery of a Smyrna pizza shop from December, police announced Saturday.
36-year-old Chestertown man Vontaye Gilbert was formally charged on Monday.
According to the Smyrna Police Department, a masked suspect armed with an unknown type of handgun robbed employees of a Domino’s Pizza shop on East Glenwood Avenue at gunpoint on December 23, 2015. The suspect then allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle.
After an investigation and assistance from regional law enforcement agencies, police say they were able to positively identify Gilbert as the suspect.
We’re told Gilbert was initially arrested and charged by Smyrna Police in early January after he allegedly robbed and fled from a Little Casear’s restaurant on Jimmy Drive.
Gilbert, who was still being held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Facility from his January arrest, has been charged with 1st degree Robbery, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a felony, Possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, Aggravated Menacing, Wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and Carrying a concealed deadly weapon in connection with the December incident.
He was presented via video court at Justice of the Peace Court 2, where he was given an additional $72,000 secured bond.
Smyrna Police say he will continue to be held in the custody of the Department of Corrections pending a future court hearing.
