Former Del. Gov. Minner son dies in fatal vehicle crash in Milford

Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash which claimed the life of 55-year-old Gary Ingram, son of former Governor Ruth Ann Minner.
Police say the crash occurred Friday night at around 6:30 p.m. Gary L. Ingram was driving a flatbed tow truck, traveling southbound on Bay Road, south of Cicada Lane in Milford.
Investigators report the tow truck then gradually traveled off the edge of the road for an unknown reason. The right side mirror and right corner of the flatbed struck a steel sign and continued traveling south until it struck a group of trees.
Gary Ingram, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene by Kent County Paramedics. He was then transported to the Milford Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Governor Markell wrote a statement saying, “Along with so many people in our state, I have long admired the devotion that the Minners shows to family and their commitment to helping others. Like his mother, Gary demonstrated a passion for service to his community and for improving the lives of Delawareans. He will be sorely missed. I join all Delawareans who are thinking of and praying for the family at this difficult time.”
This crash remains under investigation by the police. Neither alcohol or drugs appear to be a factor in this crash.
Bay Road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
