Georgetown officials: “damage not as extensive as other areas”

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Georgetown officials tell us they haven’t had as extensive damage as those in other areas.

According to the Georgetown Police Department, the worst they have seen is trees blowing with heavy winds, but thankfully no building damages.

Detective Joey Melvin says his main priority is just to make sure people are staying safe and off the roads. He adds that even though the damage has not been as extensive yet, they are always preparing for the worst and keeping more officers than usual on the road.

“If you don’t have to be on the roadways I would encourage drivers to wait until this passes wait until we can reassess because there will be large amounts of water on the roadways, and construction you can’t see or notice or wires in the roadways,” said Melvin.
