Fruitland free food pantry in need of funds to continue to operate

FRUITLAND, Md.- A Fruitland woman is asking for the community’s help in raising money to help feed those in need.

Michelle Milad, creator of Fruitland Little Free Food Pantry, started a free library outside her home, but it turned into a free food pantry during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With more and more people needing food during this time, Michelle said she’s run out of money, as it takes about $200 dollars to run the food pantry weekly.

To help, Milad has since created a GoFundMe page, and she hopes people will donate so that those in need can still get food in a quick, hassle free way.

“They are so immediate for people, there’s no paperwork, there’s no middle man, it’s just you need food, here you go and I think that’s what’s amazing about these little charities, especially at this time,” Milad said.

Milad said typically about 28 people will stop by the free food pantry on a daily basis.

To donate to the pantry, you can visit Fruitland Little Free Food Pantry on GoFundMe.
