SNOW HILL, Md. – Worcester County has elected 4 new County Commissioners, meaning that the board, will be majority made up of new-comers for the upcoming term.

The new commissioner elects include Roxie Dennis for District 2, Steve Green for District 4, Joe Schanno for District 5, and Lou Taylor for District 6.

Re-elected commissioners include Caryn Abbott for District 1, Eric Fiori for District 3, and Joeseph Mitrecic for District 7, who spoke on the character of the new elects.

“I am really looking forward to serving with the new members of the commissioners.” Said Mitrecic. “I think we have a great group that’s coming in, they are very forward thinking.”

Weston Young is the Chief Administrative Officer, a role appointed by the commissioners, and spoke on the new faces joining the group.

“We look forward to working with the new commissioners, helping get them up to speed and helping get them the information they need to be able to hit the ground running.” Said Young.

Young also spoke on the shifting dynamic of welcoming a large group of fresh commissioners.

“I think how the dynamics play out are to be determined, you know, there’s an on-ramp and understanding behind the scenes and what staff does and better understanding that.” Said Young. “And then there’s the interpersonal dynamics among the different commissioners and that’ll take some time for the dust to settle.”

The new commissioner elects will be sworn in by early December, and a new president will also have to be elected, following the departure of current County Commissioner President Ted Elder.
