UPDATE: DSP: Alcohol may have played a role in crash that leaves G’Town man dead

UPDATE:  Delaware state police have identified the deceased victim as 37 year old Jeffrey Mesh of Georgetown.

Delaware State Police say alcohol may have played a role in a single-vehicle crash that left a 37-year-old Georgetown man dead.

Police say just after 1 a.m. Saturday morning, the man, who was driving a pickup truck, was heading north on Saw Mill Rd. when he failed to properly navigate around a curve. As a result, the man apparently traveled off the roadway before hitting a tree and then a rail fence.

We’re told the man was partially ejected through the passenger-side window and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say he was the only one inside the vehicle and that he was not properly restrained.

Police say Saw Mill Rd. was shut down for thee hours. We’re told the crash is still under investigation.
