Del. primary election moved to June 2nd

WILMINGTON, Del. – On Tuesday, Governor John Carney announced on Tuesday that Delaware’s presidential primary election, originally scheduled for April 28th, will now be held on June 2nd.

In addition, Carney suspended residential foreclosures and evictions during the coronavirus outbreak. This order goes into effect at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 25th, and will remain in effect until May 15th or until the public health threat is eliminated.

This order prevents lenders from beginning foreclosures during this time. Residential foreclosures that began before Carney issued the State of Emergency will not move forward until the 31st day following the end of the emergency declaration at the earliest. This order also prevents residential utility service companies from terminating service or charging late fees.

All elections for school board members in any Delaware school district scheduled for May 12th are delayed until June 16th. It was also noted that social distancing due to the coronavirus is a valid reason to vote by absentee ballot.
