Santa is coming to downtown… Salisbury for Christmas in July!
SALISBURY, Md. — Christmas is coming early to downtown Salisbury.
Local businesses are preparing for Christmas in July this Saturday, featuring sales, giveaways and family-friendly activities designed to bring shoppers downtown during the slower summer season.
“The Downtown Business Alliance is hosting Christmas in July,” said Nicole Rogers, owner of Two Scoops. “Locals can expect to come down, go to three different spots where we’re going to have vendors inside so you can stay cool, stay dry.”
Businesses throughout downtown will offer discounts and holiday-themed promotions, with a surprise Santa making appearances at participating locations.
“We’re also going to have a surprise Santa that will be visiting different locations,” Rogers said. “All the stores that will be open are going to have crazy sales. We’re going to have our Christmas stuff on sale.”
At Brick City, owner Alex Scott said customers can expect the restaurant’s signature menu alongside holiday-inspired offerings.
“We’ll have all of our classics available, some Christmas-themed things for the bar crawl,” Scott said. “We’ll have drink specials, food specials.”
Business owners hope the event will encourage residents to shop locally during a traditionally slower month for downtown retailers.
“July is kind of notoriously a little bit slower downtown,” Rogers said. “Everybody’s at the beach, and we thought it would be really fun to get festive, do something fun right in the middle of summer to get everybody thinking about Christmas.”
Scott said the event is a chance to bring the holiday spirit to the community months ahead of December.
“We’re just excited that people want to celebrate Christmas all the time,” Scott said. “Why not in the middle of summer, when we could use a little cooling down?”
The event is starting at 11am at Brick Room.
