HARRINGTON, Del. – Multiple fire companies responded a house fire in Harrington on Tuesday.

The Harrington Fire Company, supported by crews with the Felton, Frederica, Greensboro, Houston, Farmington, and Greenwood fire companies, responded to a residential structure fire in the unit block of Park Brown Road. Responding firefighters located a two story, frame constructed, single family dwelling with fire showing throughout.

Crews deployed multiple hose lines and began putting out the fire from inside the house. However, due to the house’s rapidly deteriorating conditions, firefighters were advised to evacuate the structure. Crews operated on scene for approximately one hour before the incident was placed under control. Units remained on scene for an extended amount of time to conduct overhaul and extinguish hot spots.

The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is currently investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
