Concrete Truck Overturned in Parksley Crash

PARKSLEY, Va. – Multiple fire companies responded to an overturned concrete truck on Monday morning just outside the Town of Parksley.

At 11:12 a.m. on Jun. 29, the Parksley and Bloxom Volunteer Fire Companies were dispatched for a motor vehicle crash in the area of Hopeton Road and Cristine Lane. Upon arrival, crews found a concrete truck overturned in the middle of the roadway, spilling a large amount of concrete and completely blocking both lanes of travel.

The driver had safely exited the vehicle prior to EMS arrival and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The roadway remained closed for approximately three hours while heavy wrecker crews worked to remove the overturned truck and clear the roadway. Firefighters continuously applied water to the spilled concrete to prevent it from hardening on the pavement, allowing for a safer and more effective cleanup.
