SALISBURY, Md. – There are three big events happening in town this weekend — including two free health fairs!
The Eastern Shore Mission of Mercy is a free, adult dental clinic returning to the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center on Friday, Mar. 27 and Saturday, Mar. 28. Adults can receive free dental care, with no insurance or pre-registration required. Dental services are provided by licensed dentists and hygienists from all over the state, who volunteer their time, alongside hundreds of community volunteers. Patients can receive x-rays, cleanings, fillings, select root canals and select extractions at no cost.
Doors open at 6:00 a.m. with patients often lining up several hours before the clinic opens. Patients must be aged 18-years or older, and are seen on a first-come, first-served basis, until clinic capacity is reached. Children are not permitted on the clinic floor and must be supervised at all times by an adult.
Also on Saturday is a free Community Health Fair at the Newton Community Center, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Salisbury University’s Presidential Citizen Scholars Program is partnering with the City of Salisbury to provide community members with free blood pressure checks, vaccination information, diabetes risk assessments, and more. Swing by 306 Newton Street to get checked out.
Lastly, the Salisbury Zoo is hosting their Easter Jeep Hop. The free, family-friendly event is happening this Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy a festive afternoon at the Zoo while supporting animal care, education programs and conservation initiatives!
Throughout the Zoo, decorated Jeeps will be stationed for guests to visit, creating a candy-collecting experience similar to a traditional trunk-or-treat event. Families can stroll the Zoo, gather treats and giveaways from participating vehicles, and vote in the Jeep Decorating Contest — the winning Jeep will receive a trophy! Additional activities include a $5 Easter Egg Giveaway, offering participants the chance to win special prizes such as Easter baskets. The event will also feature food trucks, music, raffles and ambassador animal appearances. The Easter Bunny will be on-site throughout the afternoon for photos and greetings!
Proceeds from donations, raffles and activity participation will directly benefit the Salisbury Zoo and support its mission of providing quality animal care and engaging educational experiences for the community.
