Millsboro named ‘Friendliest City’ in Delware
Salisbury, Md. – Millsboro is the friendliest city in Delaware. That’s according to rankings out of the popular neighborhood connection app Nextdoor.
For Town Manager, Jamie Burke, the ranking was an honor that reflected the “golden rule” culture many residents and officials try to cultivate within the town.
“To be named the friendliest town in Delaware is a huge accomplishment because there are some really great places in Delaware,” he said. He said it was “nice to see” since Millsboro had seen a big influx of people from other areas understand where “our values are here as far as being good neighbors and being friendly members of the community.”
Burke said the local culture of Millsboro and Sussex County was one of treating others kindly, the “way you’d like to be treated.” He said the community was one of people willing to help one another.
Nextdoor named Millsboro the friendliest city in the state for 2026, followed by New Castle, Bear, Ocean View and Wyoming. According to a spokesperson for Nextdoor, the list is not based on surveys or opinions but on how neighbors interact with each other on the platform, from “offering help and welcoming new residents to sharing recommendations and supporting local businesses.” The list reflects Delaware cities where neighbors were the “most engaged, supportive, and welcoming.”
