Traffic Stop Leads to Felton Man’s Arrest on Gun, Traffic Charges
FELTON, Del. — A 35-year-old Felton man was arrested Saturday after police say a traffic stop along U.S. Route 13 led to the discovery of a concealed, loaded handgun.
The stop happened around 1:24 p.m. Saturday when officers with the Felton Police Department pulled over a vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. Route 13 for a traffic violation, according to authorities.
During the stop, officers determined the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. Further investigation revealed the man was carrying a fully loaded handgun concealed in his waistband without a valid permit, police said.
The driver, identified as David Kelly Deshields, 35, of Felton, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the police department for processing.
Deshields was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, a Class D felony; driving while suspended or revoked, a misdemeanor; possession of a suspended license; and failure to stop at a red light.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 and released on his own
