Salisbury Fire Marshal Investigates House Fire on Hammond Street

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire that occurred on Tuesday morning.

At 9:35 a.m., crews with the Salisbury Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of Hammond Street. The owner of the home was able to escape safely through a window, and is being assisted by the Red Cross.

Officials say there were no smoke alarms in the house at the time of the fire. The total fire damage is estimated to be valued at $40,000.

Fire marshals determined that the fire originated in the kitchen of the home, but the preliminary cause remains under investigation.
