Culinary class teaches parents healthy cooking skills

BERLIN, Md. – First Wave Families Maryland Patty Center for Family Support is teaching families how to whip up delicious dishes.

The organization is hosting a meal prep class, showing expectant parents how they can make healthy and affordable meals. Instructors will demonstrate safe cooking methods, and parents will even have a chance to take home their meal prep.

Director Jocelyn Snelsire encourages folks who want to learn how to cook to join them for the class. It’s fit for any person, regardless of their culinary experience.

“The recipes vary from anything healthy, usually it’s incorporating some vegetables into ways that maybe kids haven’t tried them before,” Jocelyn said. “We try to keep it pretty budget friendly, so we do all the shopping and then tell the families about how much we ended up spending on each amount and showing them exactly what they can get.”
