Safe & Fun-Filled Halloweekend in this Week’s City Minute

SALISBURY, Md. – Halloween is finally here on Friday!
While the City of Salisbury does not have any official rules for trick-or-treating this year, they are issuing a few tips to drivers to ensure a safe and fun-filled evening for all.
Drivers should be aware that there will likely be more pedestrians on the roads and in unexpected places. Remain alert for costumed children and their families in the roadway, and drive slowly through residential neighborhoods. The Salisbury Police Department is advising that trick-or-treaters make their way home by 9:00 p.m.
Ahead of Friday’s festivities, you can vote in the City’s Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Check out the creative pumpkins submitted by Salisbury’s creative city departments. Then vote for your favorite by liking your pumpkin of choice on the Facebook post. Each like equals one vote, and voting will end at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30. Once votes are calculated, the winner will be announced on social media and awarded a trophy.
The City would like to thank everyone who submitted an entry, as well as Wright’s Market for donating the pumpkins used in the contest!
For everyone looking to burn some of those candy calories on Saturday, another Walk with a Doc will be taking place Downtown. This event happens on the first Saturday of every month, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This is part of a nationwide, non-profit, free walking initiative to build community engagement, get active, and build relationships with local health care providers, all while learning about health topics in a relaxed setting.
Walk with a Doc events begin with a 10 minute health topic talk from a doctor in Unity Square. All walkers will meet at the sign-in table before starting the stroll around the Salisbury Riverwalk. This is a walk at your own pace event, open to all ages.
