SCS volleyball falls to Rockbridge in five-set thriller

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Christian School volleyball fell to Rockbridge Academy 3-2 on Tuesday in Salisbury in the Maryland Christian School Tournament quarterfinals.

The Jaguars took a back-and-forth first set, pulling away to win it 25-19. The Rockbridge Academy Scots responded with a 25-21 second-set victory.

In the third set the Jags opened up an early 9-1 lead that they would not relinquish, taking it 25-17 to go up two sets to one in the match.

Rockbridge would jump out to an early 5-1 lead in set number four. SCS battled to eventually take back the lead at 20-18, but the Scots would force another set by finishing the fourth on a 7-1 run to take it 25-21.

In the fifth set, Rockbridge built a commanding 7-1 then 12-4 lead. The Jags then rattled off six straight points to draw within two, but ultimately the Scots claimed set 15-10 and the match 3-2.

Salisbury Christian School will next face Sts. Peter & Paul at home in the ESIAC semifinals at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
