Salisbury Zoo holds a wicked evening for sensory friendly ghouls
SALISBURY, Md. — Tonight, the Salisbury Zoo is hosting a Sensory Friendly Halloween event designed to provide a fun, inclusive experience for children with sensory sensitivities.
The event, in collaboration with Salisbury University’s psychology department, is tailored to meet the needs of kids who may require extra consideration in a public setting. Though participation is optional, all children will receive game prizes or candy.
Kelly Culbert, a zoo staff member, explained that the games are designed to be sensory-friendly.
“At each table, there are unique games that don’t include loud sounds, bright lights, or anything that could potentially be overwhelming,” Culbert said. “We also offer sensory options, like a big pool of corn where kids can dig in and explore.”
The event will run from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, and tickets are available for purchase at the zoo gate.
