City of Salisbury sues Mentis Lot 10, LLC over alleged violation of agreement
SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury is taking developer Mentis Lot 10, LLC to the Wicomico County Circuit Court.
The developer plans to build a residential and retail building on the site of what is currently Parking Lot 10 in downtown Salisbury. However, the city alleges that Mentis Lot 10, LLC violated an agreement to keep the 267-space lot open for municipal parking until construction began, according to a press release.
The lawsuit seeks to have a judge prohibit Mentis Lot 10, LLC from closing or obstructing Lot 10 for public parking, collecting parking fees for private parking on the site, or terminating the parking agreement until proper development permits are secured.
Salisbury Mayor Randy Taylor stated the parking lot provides important access to downtown courthouses, the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office, and visitors to the area.
“The City entered into this agreement in good faith, ensuring that Lot 10 would remain available for public parking until redevelopment was ready to begin,” Mayor Taylor stated in a press release, adding that he remains willing to work with the developer.
WMDT reached out to both the mayor’s office and Mentis Lot 10, LLC for additional comment, which they could not provide.
