Blood Bank of Delmarva launches 5th annual Blood for a Brew campaign
DELMARVA. – Last month, the Blood Bank of Delmarva declared a blood emergency, and while they’re clear of that crisis, they still need community help.
The blood bank is hosting the 5th annual Blood for a Brew event, where folks can give a little blood and get a little tipsy, safely, of course. Communications specialist, Tony Prado said this is one of the ways they’re able to get the community out in full force and donate to save lives.
“You have to be a little more creative in the summertime– when people are busy with vacation, and just having fun in the sun in general– and find partners that are willing to collaborate with you,” said Prado.
There are a total of nine different breweries that are participating in the campaign, all on different days. Prado said this is the perfect opportunity to give back and try out some of the local businesses we have on Delmarva.
“If you have never given blood before, blood for a brew is a fun, relaxing way to do it,” said Prado. “You donate blood, the whole process is going to take anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour, and after you’re done donating, you can go into one of these fine establishments.”
Those establishments include Ocean View Brewing Company; 5th Company Brewing; The Well; Dogfish Head 2; Dogfish Head 3; Cooked Hammock Brewery, Lewes; Crooked Hammock Brewery, Middletown; Mispillion River Brewing; Revelation Craft Brewing Company.
