Motorcyclist reportedly pinned in Salisbury pickup truck crash

Authorities in Wicomico County say, a motorcyclist and his grand-daughter were seriously injured Wednesday after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck.
According to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the intersection of Pemberton Drive and Royal Mile Boulevard at about 8:15 AM. During the investigation it was determined that 69-year-old Lewis Culbertson, of Tyaskin and his 14-year-old grand-daughter were riding on a motorcycle traveling east on Pemberton Drive. As they approached the intersection of Royal Mile Boulevard a pickup being driven by 45-year-old William Mengason, of Salisbury, reportedly turned into the path of the motorcycle. Officials say, the motorcycle collided with the pickup causing it to go down under the truck and pinning Culbertson under the motorcycle.
Although both Culbertson and his grand-daughter were wearing helmets, they both reportedly suffered significant injuries and they were both air-lifted from the PRMC. Reports say, Culbertson was later flown to Christiana Medical Center, where he is listed in stable, but critical condition, and his grand-daughter was flown to Nemours A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, were she is listed in stable condition.
The WCSO, Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into this incident and at this time they say no charges have been filed. Pemberton Drive was reportedly closed for about three hours while the collision was investigated.
