Special election to be held August 5th to fill absence in Del. District 20

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – A special election will be held in a little over a month to fill a vacant seat in the Delaware House of Representatives.

On Tuesday, August 5th, voters in Sussex County will cast their ballots for District 20. The special election is being called after State Representative Stell Parker Selby resigned on June 24th. Rep. Parker Selby suffered a stroke in December 2024 and was unable to attend any of the 2025 legislative session, which ended on Monday.

The chairs of the Republican and Democratic parties in Sussex County will select candidates for the race. While the Republican party has picked their candidate as Dr. Nikki Miller, a former Cape Henlopen High School principal, the Democratic party has not yet selected a candidate.

The 20th District covers Lewes, Milton, Nassau, and parts of Harbeson and Georgetown.
