Awesome food at the Delaware State Fair

– it’s the food. today – i embarked on a journey to once again find – taste – and see how some of the more outlandish foods that the fair has to offer. and i promise – there’s no scorpions or anything else like that this time around. track 1 as i was walking around the harrington fairgrounds sunday morning – i was doing so with a empty stomach. meaning i had plenty of room for some of the more interesting foods at the 2016 delaware state fair. the first thing that peaked my interest and curiosity – fried bubble gum. take sot – cory kalber/colglazier enterprise – :07 “we actually tried it with real bubble gum, but it turns real hard like a brick inside. it’s not very good.” track 2 cory showed me how exactly you make the tasty treat. he says it starts with a frozen marshmallow – not bubble gum. the marshmallow then gets dipped in a bubble gum flavored batter before it’s deep fried and topped with powdered sugar. needless to say – it exceeded my expectations. take sot – :04 greg “definitely one of the must try sweets here at the fair.” track 3 after the fried bubble gum – i made my way over to one of the many little richard’s stands to trythe highly touted – krispy kreme burger. manager dave higman threw a fresh beef patty on the grill – two pieces of bacon – and the buns. two krispy kreme doughnuts. take sot – dave higman/manager, little richard’s – :11 “we grill, take the krispy kreme doughnuts, we grill them, caramelize the sugar and toast them a little bit and when that’s all done, we’ll put it all together and add some fresh sliced tomato and lettuce.” track 4 once the burger was finished – you guessed it – i had give it my seal of approval. greg take sot – dale ray, chef, “hot beef sundae” – :09 “there’s no ice cream or chocolate. this has been a main stay at the nebraska state fair since 1893,” “it all comes together, looking like a sundae, plated in a bl” track 6 the beef – mashed potatoes – gravy – cheese – and texas toast hit the spot as this dish brought out the most of every single ingredient. after eating all of that tasty food today – it’s tough to pick a favorite. so my
