Man reportedly arrested in Harrington after theft complaints on Wednesday

The Harrington Police Department says they arrested a man, on Wednesday, after they investigated theft complaints in the area.

Police were reportedly contacted by residents of Mechanic Street, saying that lawn mowing items had been stolen.

Officials say one victim claimed a suspect had removed a lawnmower and a weedeater, while a second victim said a lawnmower was also stolen from them.

Christopher J. Santiago, 30, of Harrington, had reportedly done work for both of the victims in the past. Officials say that with the help of a local pawn shop, they were able to determine that Santiago stole the items and pawned them at the shop.

Police were then apparently able to recover the stolen items, and return them to the owners.

According to the report, Police obtained warrants for Santiago, and he was taken into custody after he was found walking down the street.

Officials say Santiago was taken to the Harrington Police Department for processing, and was then charged with five counts of theft under $1,5000, four counts of falsifying business records, and two counts of theft by false pretense.

Santiago was reportedly arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7, and was released on $6,000 unsecured bond.
