Frankford man convicted, sentenced for second degree assault

SALISBURY, Md. – A Frankford man has been convicted of assault and drug offenses in Wicomico County.

35-year-old Isaiah Phillips pleaded guilty last month to one count of second degree assault and one count of possession of a large amount of morphine.

The charges stem from an incident on December 9, 2023, when a deputy tried to make contact with Phillips, who was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. When Phillips saw the deputy, He put the vehicle in reverse and accelerated toward the deputy’s patrol vehicle before fleeing and discarding items. Once he was taken into custody, deputies found a large amount of morphine along Phillips’ flight path.

Phillips was subsequently sentenced to 25 years incarceration with all but 8 years suspended, 5 of which is a mandatory minimum sentence without parole.
