Pemberton Coffee is back in business!

SALISBURY, Md.- After being closed for over 5 years, a community staple has resurfaced, hopefully this time, to stay!

Pemberton Coffeehouse has decided to re-open again, with its same look and charm, but with an added entrepreneurial twist. Owner Yodit Gedamu says the COVID pandemic had a huge impact on them, which gave them the idea to try and help all communities who which to make a living for themselves.

They are now working to have their coffee directly imported from Ethiopia, plus they sell local beans and now, beers. Also on display are handcrafted scarfs and shawls for sale, and the menu includes southern-inspired dishes like shrimp mac & cheese and stuffed turkey legs.

Gedamu says opening back up during Black History Month is a bonus, and a great opportunity to educate the community by bringing Africa to the Eastern shore. “Did you know that all coffee comes from Ethiopia?  Did you know that what we drink in the morning is not a bean-like flava it’s a bean like the seed of a cherry- That has been plucked for centuries… We want to make sure that what we buy here and what our customers buy here locally is able to really have an impact on the lives of the communities that grow the coffee.”

Pemberton CoffeeHouse will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. So, be sure to stop on by 1100 Pemberton Drive in Salisbury to grab a cup.
